McKean is seeking a Calibration Technician to support the coordination and calibration of installed instrumentation onboard U.S. Navy ships to include:

  • Performing Pressure and Temperature Calibrations on level 1 and 3 installed instruments (Switches, Gages, Thermometers) on US Naval Surface Ships using authorized U.S. Navy calibration standards
  • Identifying shipboard assets that are out of calibration or coming due for calibration
  • Coordinating with shipboard personnel to conduct calibrations
  • Applying calibration labels and/or tags on instruments to indicate calibration status
  • Updating of calibration recall databases to reflect accurate calibration information
  • Developing and presenting status reports identifying progress of calibrations completed and planned activities
  • Maintaining inventory of calibration standards
  • Establishing and maintaining calibration laboratory certification requirements and participating in calibration audits
Required Skills
  • Trained in using the U.S. Navy Portable Pressure Calibrators (PPC) and Temperature Calibrators (3604 and 3605)
  • Familiar with requirements of ST700-AM-GYD-010/METCAL, NAVSEA 4734.1, NAVAIR 17-35TR-8 instructions (Calibration labels policy) and COMUSFLTFORCOMINST 4790.3, Joint Fleet Maintenance Manual (JFMM)
  • Proficient in reviewing the Calibration Requirements List (CRL)
  • Proficient in using the CRL and the 9802-Series Maintenance Requirements Cards
  • Proficient in using the METBENCH Calibration Management System (MCMS)
  • Ability to work in a shipboard/shipyard environment and inventory shipboard equipment
  • Appropriate written and verbal communication skills to interact with U.S. Navy personnel
Required Experience

  • HS Grad and a target of 5 years of shipboard calibration experience
  • Shipboard Gage Calibration Program Training Certificate or equivalent
  • Performed duties as a member of a shipboard Field Calibration Activity (FCA)/Aviation Intermediate Maintenance Dep (AIMD) or equivalent
  • Must have an active SECRET clearance
