Job Description

McKean Defense is seeking a Navigation System Engineer to support U.S. Navy program, specifically DDG class Integrated Bridge and Ship Controls. The candidate may be responsible for:

- Supporting as a test engineer, providing installation and testing support, development of simulation equipment, and system setups/tests

- Test software and hardware, develop test procedures

- Perform distance support/troubleshooting as well as on-site shipboard support

- Install and debug systems

- Interface with OEMs and vendors to prepare equipment for installation, testing, and troubleshooting

- Utilize issue tracking software/databases.

Required Skills

Windows operating systems experience/familiarity

Computer hardware experience/familiarity. This may include building and repairing PCs, and diagnosing hardware problems.

Experience using Issue Tracking and Software version control tools a plus (i.e. JIRA).

May travel up to 25%

Required Experience

BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering field

Previous Navigation or Ship Controls experience preferred, but not required

Computer networking experience/familiarity. This may include LAN setup/DHCP/IP configuration settings, TC/IP, UDP, routing tables, network diagnostics, LAN troubleshooting, and Linux and C/C++ experience

Candidate shall have an active Secret clearance, or be able to obtain one.

Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
