Ship Controls Engineer / Computer Scientist

McKean Defense is seeking an Engineer or Computer Scientist to support U.S. Navy programs, specifically Navigation and Ship Control Systems. The candidate may be responsible for:
- Supporting as a test engineer, providing installation and testing support, development of simulation equipment, and system setups/tests
- Test software and hardware, develop test procedures
- Perform lab support/troubleshooting as well as on-site shipboard support
- Install and debug systems
- Interface with vendors to prepare equipment for installation, testing, and troubleshooting
- Utilize issue tracking software/databases.
Windows operating systems experience/familiarity
Computer hardware experience/familiarity. This may include building and repairing PCs, and diagnosing hardware problems.
Computer networking experience/familiarity. This may include LAN setup/DHCP/IP configuration settings, TC/IP, UDP, routing tables, network diagnostics, LAN troubleshooting, and Linux and C/C++ experience
Experience with Wireshark a plus.
Experience using Issue Tracking and Software version control tools a plus (i.e. JIRA).
May travel up to 25%
BS Degree in Computer Science or Engineering field
Previous Navy systems experience is a plus, but not required
Candidate shall have an active Secret clearance, or be able to obtain one.
